Hello! And welcome to my little corner of the world! I am so happy you're here. My name is Janessa Furness. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Family Studies. I have a passion about early childhood development. About 80% of a child's brain is developed by the age of 5! Those early years are crucial for their development, and it all starts in utero. I received by certification to be a birth doula in 2019 and started attending births right away. I have taught group prenatal classes as well as personalized classes. I became a Certified Nurse Assistant in 2023 and worked in American Fork, Utah Valley, and Spanish Fork Hospitals. I also have worked alongside a variety of different midwives as a birth assistant. As a doula, I have experience with twins, VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), birth after loss, homebirth, birth center, epidural, cesarean section, birth after infertility, and medical induction. No matter what your birth preferences or outcomes, my intention is to provide a safe space for you to listen to and honor your intuition. I am here for you to be seen, heard, respected and loved as you go through this transformative time.  I am here to show you all of your options to make informed decisions, educate on the physiological process of birth, coping mechanisms, and hold space for you during this vulnerable and life changing time in your life. I am passionate about postpartum planning and I make sure each family has a postpartum plan they feel confident and comfortable with as they enter their fourth trimester. When not in the birth space, I am pouring into the Family Services Team at a local non-profit organization in Utah County. During the times I am not working, you can find me exploring the outdoors with my two young kiddos, practicing yoga, making music, and planning my next travel adventure. Choosing your care team during your pregnancy is one of the most important decision you will make. I'd love to meet!
